A change of government….the conservatives who formed the federal government for 11.5 years are gone….gone…and the former PM may yet lose his seat in Parliament.  The Labor Party romped it home with a lot of help from the Greens.

Also Australia’s first woman as Deputy PM….yay… Julia Gillard. It’s taken a while.

I’m more hopeful albeit nursing a hangover.

Nada – my sentiments exactly. What a night! I woke up this morning wondering why my head hurt and then thought “oh…that’s right…it’s over. No more having to flick off the television or radio because I can’t bear the sound of the PMs voice in my life”. I don’t know what was more exciting – the landslide or the possible result in Bennelong.

The only disappointment for us was that despite our letterboxing and planting her sign in our front lawn, that the Greens Kerrie Tucker didn’t get into the Senate in the ACT. We’ll have to try harder next time.

I can’t believe how refreshing it will be to not be having to wade through the spin every time a gov’t minister speaks, to not have to look at smug conniving faces, to not have to decide if it is better to hear what they are saying or to not have the voices in my head. Happy day!

Melissa: Yes. Yes. Yes. No more simpering JH.
I really thought the Greens had a good shot at the ACT Senate and retaining the NSW Senate seat, so to loose on both counts was very disappointing especially since they conducted such a dignified and responsible campaign….no multiple weekly letters from the Greens…we used to get 3 a week each from the Liberal sitting member….but he has been dispatched!

Kathy : Happy Day indeed! Hoping for better times ahead.
